This hub tracks Centrelink (Services Australia) payment rates after the April 2026 indexation, the second of the two scheduled annual reviews for working-age payments. Primary source: Services Australia payment-rate pages and the Department of Social Services indexation rates document. Coverage focuses on the rates a household actually receives, when the new amount lands in your account, and how to check or query a payment.
What changed on 20 March 2026 (most recent indexation)
Centrelink working-age and pension rates were last indexed on 20 March 2026. The new fortnightly rates flowed through to most recipients in payments dated late March and early April. The next pension indexation is scheduled for September 2026; working-age payment indexation also runs in September.
Age Pension rates (single and couple)
- Single Age Pension (maximum, including supplements): $1,200.90 per fortnight. Increase from the previous indexation: $22.20 a fortnight.
- Couple Age Pension, each (maximum, including supplements): $905.20 per fortnight. Increase from the previous indexation: $16.70 a fortnight per person.
The Age Pension is paid every two weeks, so the single fortnightly rate annualises to roughly $31,223. Recipients are advised to check their payment summary in myGov for the actual figure (income test, assets test, and rental assistance can vary the cash amount).
JobSeeker rates
- Single, no children, base rate: $808.70 per fortnight (maximum, after 20 March 2026 indexation).
- Single, with dependent children OR aged 55+ on payment for at least 9 months: $866.00 per fortnight.
- Partnered, each: set lower than the single rate; check Services Australia for the current partnered figure that applies to your circumstances.
JobSeeker is paid fortnightly. Mutual obligations (job-search points, training, study) continue to apply unless you have an exemption. The base rate is supplemented by Rent Assistance for renters, the Energy Supplement, and Pharmaceutical Allowance where eligible.
Youth Allowance, Parenting Payment, Carer Allowance
Youth Allowance, Parenting Payment Single, Parenting Payment Partnered, and Carer Allowance were also indexed on 20 March 2026. The Services Australia payment-rate pages show the live current amounts for each, including dependent-child supplements and Rent Assistance.
How to check what you should receive
- Log in to myGov and open the Centrelink service.
- Open Payment and Claims, then Payment History. The most recent payment line should reflect the new indexed amount.
- If a payment looks low, open Payment Statement to see the breakdown (gross rate, deductions for advance payments, deductions for income, supplements added).
- If you believe an amount is wrong, raise it via the Centrelink message function in myGov first. If unresolved within two weeks, ask for an internal review or call Services Australia on the line for your payment type.
Income and assets tests
The base Age Pension and JobSeeker rates are reduced by the Centrelink income and assets tests. Key 2026 thresholds:
- Age Pension single, full pension assets test: $314,000 (homeowner) / $566,000 (non-homeowner).
- Age Pension single, part pension cuts out at: $711,500 (homeowner) / $963,500 (non-homeowner).
- JobSeeker income test taper: 50 cents in the dollar between the income free area and the upper threshold; 60 cents in the dollar above. Income free area: $150 per fortnight (single, no children).
The income and assets tests are indexed in line with the payment rates and are checked on the Services Australia website per individual circumstances.
